Job Overview
The Chief Estimator will oversee and manage the estimation process specifically for commercial interiors projects. This role focuses on large-scale projects, exemplified by a $50M construction management job and a $30M lump-sum project, with the expectation of delivering accurate and timely project bids while effectively coordinating with project managers and architects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial interiors projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications and budgets.
- Analyze project plans and specifications, gathering essential information for projects valued at $50M and $30M.
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, securing competitive pricing for commercial interiors work.
- Evaluate and review bids from subcontractors, providing clear recommendations for selection based on project scope and budget constraints.
- Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to generate accurate reports and presentations for management review.
- Conduct market research on current trends and pricing relevant to commercial interiors to ensure competitive bidding practices.
- Manage project bids and negotiations, providing oversight for project budgets throughout the construction process.
- Lead and manage a team of 3 estimators within the department, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Train and mentor junior estimators and other staff involved in the estimation process, focusing on commercial interiors best practices.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in estimating, specifically within the commercial interiors segment of the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations applicable to commercial interiors projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software and project management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

- Proven track record in successfully estimating and managing commercial interiors projects, including experience with large-scale jobs such as a $50M construction management project and a $30M lump-sum project.

Salary & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $185,000 - $230,000+ commensurate with experience.
