The Director of Finance/Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for Woodvale and its affiliated entities. This role requires a hands‑on financial leader who is equally comfortable managing day‑to‑day accounting operations and providing strategic financial insight to senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal leadership, external accounting firms, third‑party management companies, and outside investors. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and clear, timely financial communication across the firm’s asset portfolio. Base Salary: $100,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience along with performance‑based bonus tied the firm’s financial and operational objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, and the monthly close process
  • Own and manage the monthly close cycle, ensuring timely reconciliations, review, and distribution of financial statements
  • Direct and coordinate the preparation of consolidated financial statements for Woodvale and affiliated entities in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting, working closely with senior leadership
  • Provide financial analysis, reporting, and insights to support operational and strategic decision‑making
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between Woodvale, external accounting firms, and third‑party management companies overseeing assets
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information received from management companies, including standardization of reporting formats and schedules
  • Communicate directly with outside investors, including responding to routine financial inquiries, explaining financial statements, and supporting investor reporting requirements
  • Support investor distributions and tax reporting by ensuring accurate and complete financial data, including coordination of K‑1 preparation and delivery
  • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and compliance activities with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Oversee regulatory and tax reporting, including entity‑level compliance and planning support
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day cash reporting, bank reconciliations, and payment preparation
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Evaluate and improve accounting systems, workflows, and reporting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Develop and monitor key financial and performance metrics across the firm’s portfolio
  • Support transaction activity, including asset acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and wind‑down efforts
  • Lead, mentor, and manage accounting staff, including hiring, training, and performance management
  • Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of sensitive financial and business information

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks (required)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Experience using common business and financial systems, including accounting platforms, document management tools, and banking portals
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
  • Experience overseeing multiple entities and consolidated financials
  • Real estate, hospitality, asset‑based, or development accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with outside investors and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
