Rental and Industrial Utility Sales Representative Position Purpose Responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships while maximizing industrial utility sales, rental volume, and market share within an assigned territory. This role supports company growth by selling industrial utility equipment, services, and rental solutions, identifying customer needs, and delivering profitable sales strategies
Rental and Industrial Utility Sales Representative Essential Functions
Communicates and supports the Kirby-Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
Secures and maintains market share, industrial sales, and rental volume within an assigned territory
Develops strategic industrial and rental sales plans, forecasts, and sales goals for assigned territories
Prepares reports detailing sales activity, territory performance, and potential customer opportunities
Assists in implementing promotional and marketing strategies for product lines
Promotes the sale of industrial and rental equipment, parts, and services
Supports sales department goals, including profit, volume, and product mix objectives
Identifies prospects and expands the customer base through proactive industrial and rental sales efforts
Establishes and maintains strong customer relationships by identifying needs and delivering appropriate industrial equipment or rental solutions
Serves as liaison between the company and customers throughout the sales or rental process
Maintains regular communication with customers and management regarding territory activity
Prepares quotations outlining industrial and rental equipment features, benefits, pricing, and available financing programs
Ensures all industrial sales and rental transactions are completed accurately, ethically, and on time
Completes required paperwork, contracts, and documentation accurately and on time
Maintains knowledge of marketing and finance programs to support sales initiatives
Maintains strong knowledge of industrial equipment, rental fleet, and industry trends
Monitors competitor products, sales activity, and market trends to maximize selling opportunities
Stays informed of competitor equipment, marketing programs, and financing options
Represents the company at industry meetings, conventions, and trade associations
Achieves and maintains product knowledge through sales training and professional development
Organizes time and information effectively to maximize sales productivity
Collaborates with management on inventory needs, pricing strategies, and trade-in evaluations
Maintains consistent and reliable on-site attendance
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Rental and Industrial Utility Sales Representative Minimum Qualifications
High school or equivalent education, with post-secondary education a plus
Three (3) years of construction equipment sales experience
Outside sales or territory management experience preferred
Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and interpersonal skills and techniques
Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate financial programs, pricing structures, and sales reports
Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and various web-based applications
Rental and Industrial Utility Sales Representative Physical Requirements
Pushes/Pulls/Lifts/Carries up to 50 pounds without assistance
Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors
Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours of time with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday
Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition
