This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S., excluding Los Angeles County. Employee Relations Specialist

The Employee Relations Specialist is a critical member of the HR Business Partner team, supporting a dynamic organization of approximately 700 corporate employees across six business units. This role is responsible for managing escalated employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and driving consistent application of company policies and practices. The specialist serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, balancing employee advocacy with organizational risk mitigation. What you will do:

Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated employee relations concerns, including complaints, conflicts, and policy violations. Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations; document findings and recommend appropriate actions. Manage all reasonable accommodation requests, leading the interactive process in compliance with applicable laws. Oversee all work visa and employment authorization processes, partnering with external counsel as needed. Own and maintain the employee handbook, ensuring it is regularly updated and compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Lead the annual compliance training program, partnering with Learning & Development to deliver assigned training content. Identify trends in employee relations issues and recommend proactive solutions to mitigate risk and improve employee experience. Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation related to employee relations, compliance, and investigations. What you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5–8 years of experience in employee relations, labor relations, or HR compliance roles for organizations with 500-1000 employees. Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Proven experience managing complex employee relations issues and conducting investigations. Experience administering reasonable accommodations and understanding of the interactive process. Familiarity with immigration and work authorization processes preferred. Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Compensation Details

Pay ranges at SMB are designed to reflect skills, experience, and business needs. The range shown excludes location-based adjustments, and most new hires start below the top of the range. For this role, the estimated range starts at $95,000. About SMB
