JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.

Role Summary The AFG Sustainability Director will lead our company's sustainability efforts. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing our Sustainability plan as part of our overall Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and driving continuous improvement across the organization. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core SUSTAINABILITY LEADERSHIP FAMILY – CORE

Develops, implements, monitors, and communicates recommendations for an environmental strategy for the company in alignment with the company's overall mission and goals and in partnership with company executive leadership

Establishes policies, procedures, and metrics to track and report progress towards sustainability goals including A1-A5 carbon emissions lifecycle

Provides regular updates to leadership team on performance and progress towards sustainability goals

Responsible for gathering consumption and carbon data, creating a company carbon baseline, and providing reporting on environmental and financial impact of carbon footprint

Utilizes climate-related scenario analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) to inform strategic initiatives

Collaborates with internal stakeholders and Executive Leadership Team to integrate sustainability considerations into business decisions and operations

Reviews and analyzes environmental risks and opportunities and provides recommendations on risk mitigation and business opportunities

Manages sustainability reporting and disclosure, including the preparation of sustainability reports and other environmental-related communications

Develops and implements training programs and initiatives to promote sustainability awareness and education across the organization

Responsible for implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System

Monitors and evaluates regulatory changes related to ESG and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations

Directly supports project delivery (as necessary) related to sustainability strategy, monitoring, reporting as required

Supports project teams by creating content to respond to RFPs regarding environmental and sustainability information, and/or participant in client interviews as appropriate

May respond to inquiries on company’s behalf regarding company sustainability goals

Engages with external stakeholders, including investors, customers, and suppliers, on environmental and sustainability matters

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner

Communication skills, verbal and written – Advanced

Ability to conduct effective presentations – Advanced

Proficiency in MS Office – Advanced

Understanding and proficiency with EPD platforms/dashboards and associated software systems

Understanding and proficiency of A1-A5 carbon emissions lifecycle.

Thorough knowledge of environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and reporting frameworks

Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Excellent stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills

Experience working with cross-functional teams

Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy

Knowledge of the means and methods of construction processes

Ability to manage budgets, maximize profitability and generate future work through building relationships

Technical market expert with knowledge of industry trends, innovations, etc.

Knowledge of project processes and how each supports the successful completion of a project

Ability to build relationships with team members that transcend a project

Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally

Education

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, architecture, or related field (Required)

In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered

Experience

10+ years, sustainability or environmental management experience preferably in the construction or related industry (Preferred)

5+ years experience leading matrixed reporting relationships (Preferred)

Valid and unrestricted drivers license required

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

May require periods of travel

Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs

May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)

Assignment location may include project sites and/or in the office

Frequent activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen

Occasional activity: Standing, Walking, Bending, Climbing, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling

Base compensation for the AFG Sustainability Director role in Minnesota is between $158,000 and $198,000, depending on experience, and may be more than this range for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible to receive a target bonus based on both individual and company performance.
