
Director of Athletics

To provide leadership and comprehensive management to the interscholastic programs at Mission College Prep High School. Moreover, provide direction and guidance to our parents, students, and faculty while representing the vision of the administration. In addition, serve as an athletic consultant to our parochial/partner schools.
Job Title: Director of Athletics
Reports To: Principal
Supervises: All coaches and other athletic/recreational activities staff
Evaluation: Evaluated annually by the Principal
Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
Possesses knowledge of Diocesan policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities.
Acts as liaison between principals, coaches, officials, sports organizations and associations.
Demonstrates and models leadership, sportsmanship and citizenship in all aspects of working with students and the school community.
Provides proper certification and training opportunities for coaches.
Assumes responsibility in coordination with the Vice-Principal of Academics/Operations for determining and communicating eligibility and eligibility reports.
Monitors and collects all assigned fees.
Oversees the processing of all athletic injuries and reports as mandated by the Diocese.
Facilitates all financial paperwork in accordance with school policy.
Submits required reports to the Principal or Vice-Principal(s) in a timely matter.
Makes recommendations regarding finances to the Principal.
Makes recommendations regarding athletic policies, hiring and assigning coaching personnel, facilities, and related issues to the Principal.
Supervises the coaches’ and their management of equipment, facilities, and supplies.
Arranges for the availability of equipment necessary for the administration of contests.
Secures officials for all home contests and recruits personnel necessary for managing various games and meets.
Prepares purchase orders and manages the school athletic budget under the guidance of the Business Office.
Keeps Principal informed of all scheduling that requires special out of school groups.
Ensures appropriate and fair facility use and planning for all athletic events and posts all athletic events on MCP’s master calendar. Works with the Facilities Department to coordinate athletic events for calendar accuracy.
Works with coaches to establish practice schedules to accommodate the multi-use of facilities.
Communicate with the maintenance and facilities personnel in coordinating maintenance programs for athletic facilities and grounds as it relates to practices and contests.
Works with league and area Athletic Director(s) and Principal(s) in the scheduling of interscholastic athletic contests.
Recommends to the Principal the evaluation of all Varsity coaches assigned to the school.
Refs information to the Principal promptly regarding incidents or conduct that could result in disciplinary action.
Coordinates with Old Mission School (OMS) personnel in regard to sharing facilities, resources, and equipment.
Assists the Principal with the development of the budget.
Works with the Vice-Principal(s) and Principal to create supervision schedules for athletic contests.
Arranges all transportation requests for all MCP teams.
Prepares all schedules for distribution to all faculty and staff.
Distributes CIF and League sport passes to appropriate school personnel.
Supports MCP athletics by coordinating with the Foundation, including conducting and attending appropriate meetings, approving expenditures, communicating athletic needs, and providing regular communications to the community regarding organizational goals and progress. Works closely with the Principal and Advancement Director in these matters.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates and manages athletic awards for the school.
Coordinates recruiting applicants for coaching openings.
Represents the school at meetings or conferences relating to athletics.
Arranges for preparation of fields for contests.
Arranges for all records, banners, and athletic information to be updated annually.
Coordinates clinics, professional growth improvement programs, and pre-and post-season coaches’ meetings.
Coordinates special athletic/activity events as needed.
When appropriate and requested assists the Director of Enrollment in the recruitment of students.
Recommends to the Principal for approval of all school sponsored athletic camps and special activities.
Oversee and evaluates the Assistant Director of Athletics.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
