Marelli is seeking an Optics Display Design Specialist based in Gurugram.

About the Position This role involves design, development, validation, and production support of LCD/TFT displays for automotive instrument clusters, ensuring compliance with optical performance, reliability, automotive standards, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design and specify LCD/TFT displays: size, resolution, pixel size, brightness, contrast ratio, viewing angles, color gamut, gamma, response time, and backlight architecture.

Choose suitable display technology (TN, VA, TFT, etc.) and mode (monochrome, color, gradient).

Engineer optical performance through simulation and measurement, ensuring compliance with OEM requirements and day/night mode performance.

Define and validate electrical interfaces (RGB, LVDS, MIPI‑DSI) and coordinate with hardware teams on power sequencing and signal integrity.

Coordinate with mechanical engineering on mounting, stack‑up tolerance, lens, mask, and light‑shield design.

Plan and execute environmental & reliability tests (thermal cycle, high‑temperature, vibration, EMI/EMC, ESD) and analyze failures.

Interface with suppliers for DFM/DFA, process capability, pilot build support, and mass production quality improvements.

Prepare and review specifications, performance reports, test plans, and validation documents; support customer audits and design reviews.

Required Qualifications

Education: B.E./B.Tech / M.E./M.Tech in Physics, Optics, Mechatronics or related discipline.

Strong knowledge of LCD/TFT physics, backlight systems, and automotive optics.

Hands‑on experience with optical simulation tools, luminance meters, color analyzers, environmental chambers, and automotive standards (ISO 16750).

Experience with supplier technical management and root‑cause analysis.

Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills; ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.

Preferred / Added Advantage

Experience with negative‑type automotive LCDs.

Experience with fully digital clusters.
