Director, Children’s & Intergenerational Ministries Director, Children’s & Intergenerational Ministries (Exempt), Reports to Executive Director, Congregational Vitality & Intentional Discipleship

The Director, Children’s & Intergenerational Ministries

works to fulfill the mission of Discipleship Ministries by directing the work of Children’s Ministries through convening strategic conversations, brokering knowledge, and creating excellent resources that support leaders (clergy and laity) in their ministries with children across United Methodist connectional contexts. To organize and support risk reduction and abuse prevention in ministries with the vulnerable. To guide, alongside other Discipleship Ministries staff, opportunities to shape lifelong discipleship approaches and strengthen Intergenerational Ministries.

This position develops relationships (denominationally, ecumenically, and beyond), finds effective strategies, creates original materials/events/trainings and partners to distribute widely used resources as a broker of knowledge for Ministries with Children and Intergenerational Ministries. Works closely with the Marketing & Delivery team to share created and acquired resources on Discipleship Ministries platforms. Initiates intergenerational discipleship efforts.

Will also conduct ongoing research needed to develop in-depth knowledge that can be utilized in innovative ways in resources, training, and networks for strengthening the local congregation’s ministries with children, including intergenerational ministries. This includes the regular convening of strategic conversations within denominational and ecumenical networks as well as deep listening to practitioners, to impact children’s and intergenerational ministries at a denominational level and inform this position’s ability to vision the future for children’s and intergenerational ministries.

Education / Experience

Master’s Degree – Education, Developmental, Children’s Intergenerational areas of focus preferred. Lay or clergy.

Six - seven years of local church experience in the work of ministries with children, or equivalency.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is $76,000 - $83,000 based on experience
