R0016886**THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION****CITY OF BALTIMORE, MAYOR’S OFFICE OF PERFORMANCE AND INNOVATION****Communications and Strategy Intern (OPI)****Salary Range: $20.00 - $35.00 (Hourly)****Temporary Position - No Benefits**The Partnerships & Storytelling Intern will support the Mayor's Office of Performance and Innovation (OPI) in communicating how data and strategy improve city services. This role will work closely with OPI's partnerships and storytelling lead to help translate complex work into clear, engaging content for internal and external audiences. The intern will contribute to social media, written materials, presentations, and partner coordination efforts, while gaining hands-on experience in public sector communications and strategy.Support development of presentations, one-pagers, and briefing materials. Assist in maintaining and updating an editorial calendar for reports, posts, and updates. Conduct background research on partner organizations (philanthropy, civic tech, community groups). Help track partnerships, meetings, and follow-ups. Support coordination of meetings, events, or engagement sessions (including notetaking and logistics). Assist with organizing content, templates, and files for reuse across the team. Contribute ideas for storytelling, campaigns, or ways to communicate impact. Support general communications and operational tasks as needed.Strong writing and editing skills, especially in clear, plain language Interest in storytelling, communications, or public sector work. Ability to take complex information and simplify it for different audiences. Organized and able to manage multiple tasks or deadlines. Basic design or visual communication skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar) are a plus. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Comfortable collaborating and asking questions in a team environment.Current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in communications, public policy, journalism, marketing, or a related field. Strong writing ability required. Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
