Senior Associate, Brand Advertising
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented marketing professional to join Capital One’s Brand Advertising Team as a Senior Associate, serving as a key contributor on the Advertising Team with specific responsibilities for delivering multi-channel creative for Mass Advertising campaigns. This person has experience understanding complex multi-channel media plans, especially display and non-video channels. Candidates will be able to assess creative availability and creative needs, manage writing and briefing creative agencies on non-video channel needs, leading the development of that creative, informing production of the creative, and managing logistics of trafficking, rotation and asset delivery coordinating needs with internal partners, creative and media agencies.
Role Responsibilities
Collaborate with Advertising Team working group and leadership, Brand Strategy, Media, Sponsorships, Social, & Research teams to understand business and marketing objectives and participate in development of integrated channel plans
Lead development of channel creative (print, display, radio, OOH) including authoring briefs with multiple stakeholders, briefing agencies and media partners, managing day‑to‑day agency communications and coordinating feedback, socializing with leadership, facilitating legal reviews, partnering closely with internal partners for the sake of integration, working with creative agencies on versioning and trafficking instructions, and function as the primary record‑keeper for each project
Understand, build cases for (orally and in writing/presentations), apply general advertising best practices and research learnings to continually improve creative performance with moderate oversight
Approach each project with flexibility and an openness to new projects/ways of working in order to offer the team the most leverage based on seasonality and business objectives
Pay close attention to detail, approach the work with a high sense of responsibility for the success of the work, and have the ability to prioritize/re‑assess priorities frequently given projects with different timelines/urgency
Support manager on some aspects of creative development for television advertising including record‑keeping, preparation of documents for legal review, communication with media team and agency to understand specifics of media plan
With minimal oversight, build concise, straightforward presentations on areas of ownership and assist manager and leaders on more complex presentations
Develop points of view when working in white space and assisting to develop a path forward on projects with limited definition at the outset
Assist manager with larger scale advertising initiatives and talent management
Develop points of view on advertising best practices and understand the competitive environment of the financial services category. Actively participate in advertising effectiveness discussions and creative assessments
Support management of risk and governance and understand the importance of the brand and the customer experience throughout all work we are responsible for
Coordinate and lead competitive intelligence creative assessments
Centralize internal brand health reports and establish a process for sharing amongst the Advertising Team
Manage ongoing coordination with partner teams to traffic assets, managing creative rotation needs, and launching campaigns on ad‑hoc basis with minimal oversight

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
3+ years in a marketing or advertising role
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
4+ years of experience managing creative development across a variety of channels with a variety of stakeholders
3+ years working in an advertising agency setting
3+ years working with partner teams such as sponsorships, media, social on integrated activities
2+ years working with significant regulatory requirements and/or brand governance programs
Proficient in Excel, Google Slides and experienced with other G‑Suite tools
Experience writing briefs and working with marketing strategy and agency partners
General understanding of advertising principles, creative and media agency functions, and advertising measurement tools such as Kantar or Brand Effects
Proven oral and written communication and influence skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects based on business critical needs
Strong judgment and teamwork skills to build relationships with groups across Brand and with frequent non‑Brand partners (Legal, Brand Strategy teams, Agency teams)

McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Associate, Brand
Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Associate, Brand
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan
