ROLE The Indirect Tax Intern will support the company’s indirect tax compliance, reporting, and research processes. This role provides hands‑on exposure to sales & use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, and other transaction‑based taxes. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working with data and tax systems in a fast‑paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Indirect Tax Compliance
Assist with preparation and filing of sales and use tax, excise tax, gross receipts tax, and other indirect tax returns
Gather and analyze transactional data to support monthly and quarterly filings
Support review of tax notices, assessments, and refund claims
Data & Systems Support
Reconcile tax-related accounts and validate data extracted from ERP systems
Assist in maintaining tax rate tables and exemption certificate management systems
Support testing of system configurations, including tax logic updates and enhancements
Research & Analysis
Conduct basic indirect tax research using tax tools and state/local guidance
Summarize regulatory changes and support documentation for audits or inquiries
Assist in analyzing new business initiatives for potential indirect tax impact
Audit Support
Collect and organize documentation for internal and external audits
Assist in preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with accounting, procurement, legal, and operations teams to support tax-related inquiries

Education and/or Experience
Pursuing a bachelor’s in accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or a related field
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Skills and Abilities
Coursework in tax or business law
Interest in pursuing a career in tax, accounting, or finance
