Job Title: Mechanical Designer As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies, primarily using SolidWorks software. You will collaborate with design engineers and other team members to interpret design concepts and specifications, ensuring accurate representation in the CAD models and drawings. Your role involves developing and optimizing sheet metal designs for manufacturability, considering material selection, bending allowances, tolerance requirements, and assembly constraints.

Responsibilities

Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and production drawings for fabrication and assembly of sheet metal components.

Conduct design reviews to identify potential issues or improvements in the design, offering innovative solutions when necessary.

Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to address any design‑related challenges during the production process.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations in the creation of detailed drawings and models.

Perform design calculations, simulations, and analysis to validate the integrity and performance of the mechanical designs.

Stay updated with the latest developments in sheet metal design, manufacturing techniques, and SolidWorks software enhancements.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, tools, and documentation standards.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in SolidWorks with 5+ years of professional experience.

Strong communication skills as you will lead efforts in design.

Familiarity with other 3D modeling software and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, CATIA, REVIT, or ANSYS.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Professional certification in SolidWorks or other relevant CAD software.

Experience working in industries such as automotive, HVAC, aerospace, or manufacturing.

Work Environment The position is based at the Actalent Center in Troy, MI. You will be required to work onsite for 5 days a week. The first day involves traveling to the plant in Fenton, with monthly visits to the plant thereafter.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Troy, MI.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
