The Marketing Internship, based in North Bethesda, MD, is an opportunity to gain meaningful experience in the fast‑paced commercial real‑estate space while working for an organization that is innovative, collaborative, and driven toward excellence. The selected intern will work alongside experienced marketing professionals and will learn, create, and play a meaningful role in marketing efforts for various Federal Realty properties, including Bethesda Row and Pike & Rose in Maryland as well as on surrounding shopping centers and strategic portfolio projects. This is an exciting, hands‑on opportunity to gain valuable insights and experience into the commercial real‑estate world, while enjoying a fast‑paced, fun, and worthwhile experience.

The Marketing Internship is a summer internship position; it is a paid internship offering 24‑32 hours per week over an 8‑10‑week period, and will include scheduled nights and weekends.

Pay Rate: The typical pay range is $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

Support merchant participation, communications, and execution at a variety of onsite property events including web updates, social media campaign, copy writing, day‑of event management and post‑event feedback.

Provide social media strategies and content across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Help review and approve the social media calendar and suggest social promotions for properties. Attend agency‑led content shoots.

Collect, organize and disseminate information to the community and connect with local businesses to support marketing efforts and generate interest in event participation and sponsorship.

Draft merchant relations outreach and communication (digital and face‑to‑face).

Research and brainstorm new marketing initiatives for properties, including community outreach, charitable partnerships and advertising opportunities.

Assist with other administrative duties including, but not limited to assembling packages, developing presentations, distributing merchant communications and collateral, meeting planning and logistics, and researching and database creation.

Qualifications

A student currently enrolled in an accredited university’s business / marketing / communications program

Ability to accurately understand scope of assigned projects, goals and requirements, and budgets through meetings, taking notes, and asking questions

Demonstrated excellence in research, creative writing, and editing skills

Excellent planning skills with proven event planning capabilities, preferred

A passion for ideating, project management and execution of events of all sizes

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Strong sense of professionalism with energy and enthusiasm

Ability to multi‑task and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Organized self‑starter with a positive attitude and creative mind

Adeptness using digital technologies to engage with immediate environment and initiate change

Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web browser use, experience in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, preferred

Strong presence on social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook and Twitter

Demonstrate the maturity required to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment

Must have the ability to work flexible schedules, including some evenings and weekends for events

Be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
