Position Overview We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical
Estimator
with a strong background in
conveyor and material handling system installations . This role will focus on estimating complex industrial projects that include
conveyor systems, sortation equipment, robotics support structures, platforms, mezzanines, and structural steel installations .
The ideal candidate understands the full lifecycle of mechanical installation projects—from detailed takeoffs and labor forecasting to coordination with vendors, subcontractors, and internal operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for:
Conveyor systems and material handling equipment
Sortation equipment
Robotics support structures
Platforms, mezzanines, and structural steel installations
Perform quantity takeoffs for mechanical and structural components including conveyors, supports, guarding, steel, stairs, handrails, and equipment foundations
Analyze drawings, specifications, and scopes to determine labor, equipment, and material requirements
Develop labor hour estimates based on installation methods, access constraints, and project schedules
Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor pricing
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field leadership during bidding and execution phases
Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, risk items, and value-engineering opportunities
Assist with change order pricing and post-bid clarifications
Maintain historical cost data, productivity benchmarks, and estimating databases
Required Qualifications
3+ years of estimating experience in
mechanical, industrial, or structural construction
Hands-on estimating experience with
conveyor systems and material handling installations
Working knowledge of
sortation systems, robotics infrastructure, mezzanines, platforms, and structural steel
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, structural, and general arrangement drawings
Proficiency with Excel, estimating software, and takeoff tools
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience estimating large-scale distribution centers, fulfillment centers, or automated facilities
Field experience in mechanical, conveyor, or structural steel installation
Familiarity with fast-paced industrial or e-commerce projects
