Job Summary/Description WBTV is seeking a creative, driven Digital Content Producer to create, coordinate, and distribute news content across WBTV's digital platforms and social media. This role is also responsible for developing unique, engaging angles that resonate with digital audiences.
Duties/Responsibilities
Digital news production & reporting
Report, write, and publish news stories daily, with a focus on the most impactful local, regional, and national news.
Develop original digital story ideas and enterprise content that go beyond traditional coverage.
Produce clear, accurate, and engaging copy that adheres to Associated Press (AP) style and WBTV editorial standards.
Platform management & publishing
Coordinate and publish content across WBTV.com, WBTV mobile and streaming apps, YouTube, and all major social media platforms.
Adapt stories and headlines for individual platforms, optimizing content presentation based on audience behavior and best practices.
Regularly create and schedule social media posts to promote WBTV content and engage audiences.
Analytics & strategy
Monitor audience analytics and performance metrics across platforms.
Use data insights to inform editorial decisions, refine content strategy, and identify opportunities for growth and engagement.
Respond to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced news environment, adjusting coverage strategies as needed.
Editorial standards & collaboration
Demonstrate strong news judgment in story selection, framing, and presentation.
Collaborate with newsroom staff, including reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers, to maximize the impact of WBTV’s digital content.
Uphold the highest journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity across all digital platforms.
Provide copyediting and developmental editing support for digital stories and social posts as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
3–5 years of experience in digital content production and strategy within a newsroom or similar information‑sharing environment.
Proven journalistic writing skills with a clear understanding of AP style.
Strong copyediting and developmental editing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to exercise strong news judgment in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience executing journalistic storytelling across multiple digital platforms, with an understanding of how to tailor content and presentation for each platform.
Solid understanding of SEO best practices and how to apply them to news content.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight, changing deadlines.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Familiarity with digital analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to drive editorial decisions.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
