Role Overview
You will serve as the
hands‑on Optis Debit SME and API Orchestration Lead , directly embedded with M&T and Mphasis teams to:
Own the Optis debit migration path end‑to‑end
(not credit)
Challenge and validate Client guidance
with facts and prior experience
Drive Spring Boot/API orchestration
for inbound auth shielding and outbound maintenance operations
Accelerate retirement of TIBCO ESB
by guiding patterns and leading rewrites with backward compatibility
Stabilize delivery
— replace documentation gaps with executable tests, consistent mappings, and production‑ready designs
Key Responsibilities Optis Debit Migration Leadership
Lead solutioning for
debit migration to Client Optis , including field mappings, service behaviours,
PCF settings , and platform constraints.
Translate ambiguous/incorrect
Client Developer Studio
definitions into
validated, test‑proven API contracts
and payload structures.
Define and document
shielding patterns
for
inbound authorization
traffic (Optis → M&T) through the API layer.
Create and maintain
operational runbooks
(error codes, retries, idempotency, timeouts, fallbacks, alerting).
API Orchestration & Delivery
Design and build
Java Spring Boot
microservices for orchestration— stateless, scalable, and containerized .
Implement
backward‑compatible
behaviours to minimise channel change (Digital, IVR, Branch).
Lead
ESB‑to‑API refactor
(TIBCO → Spring Boot), ensuring parity, observability, and resiliency.
Define
non‑functional requirements
(performance SLAs, throughput, concurrency, resilience patterns, failure isolation).
Partner with SRE to establish
logging, metrics, tracing , and production readiness.
Program Acceleration & Governance
Establish a
fact‑based Optis knowledge base : tested examples, field dictionaries, PCF mappings, and channel matrices.
Run
integration spikes
to de‑risk uncertain areas; build
sandbox/test harnesses
for empirical validation.
Review designs, code, and test cases;
mentor engineers
and
coach Client
on Optis specifics and orchestration nuances.
Align designs and implementations with
enterprise standards
used in Garrett’s area.
Required Qualifications
5–10 years
in
debit card platforms
with
direct, hands‑on Client Optis (debit)
migration/implementation experience.
Expert‑level
Java/Spring Boot
for API/microservice development; containerised deployment experience (Docker/K8s/OpenShift).
Demonstrated success building
orchestration layers
(request routing, transformation, shielding, fault handling).
Experience
retiring legacy ESB
services and refactoring to
API‑first
architectures.
Strong knowledge of
authorization flows ,
card lifecycle events
(lock/unlock, lost/stolen, PIN, status), and
core banking touchpoints
(e.g.,
Hogan ).
Proven ability to
challenge vendor guidance
constructively and back it with
empirical tests
and production evidence.
Deep understanding of
API security
(gateway‑based authN/Z),
idempotency ,
transactional integrity , and
backward compatibility
strategies.
Exceptional documentation and communication skills; able to align architects, Client, channels and vendor teams.
Must be debit; credit‑only experience is not sufficient.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience
stabilising programmes
that were behind schedule and under‑resourced.
Familiarity with
Client Developer Studio
pitfalls and field‑level quirks (incl.
PCF
mapping).
Observability:
OpenTelemetry , distributed tracing, structured logging, service‑level dashboards.
Messaging/async patterns;
resiliency engineering
(circuit breakers, retries, bulkheads).
Banking regulatory & operational awareness (SOX, PCI DSS, PII handling, auditability).
