Position Summary The Marketing Specialist supports the timely creation and execution of successful marketing and communication strategies to promote and create engagement for the Museum, our exhibitions and programming. Working in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Specialist will play an integral role in the marketing and visitor communication strategy of the Museum and the Museum’s cornerstones: Collections, Contemporary Art, Horticulture, Music, and Education. The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for the development and implementation of visitor journeys through email, website content strategy and promotion and associated monthly reporting.

Essential Functions And Primary Responsibilities Marketing Strategy

In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications, assists in developing relevant, meaningful marketing strategies for the brand, special exhibits and programs (from concerts to lectures) that align with exhibition themes and messages, welcoming new and diverse audiences to the Museum community and collaborates with stakeholders and partners to meet associated goals.

Develops email marketing strategy and visitor journeys using email and digital channels based on strategic priorities and goals.

Develops and manages the Museum’s email calendar, partnering with Membership, Development, and Box Office on strategy and timing of emails and supports email deployment.

Oversees email service provider partnership in collaboration with IT and stakeholders ensuring our email strategy can be supported and executed efficiently and effectively.

Champions the connectivity of Tessitura to our email program and coordinates with the Tessitura internal group on all marketing related areas.

Supports the Museum’s strategic priorities utilizing traditional, digital, and grassroots marketing in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Marketing Team.

Tracks internal and external data reporting and facilitates data collection for the Marketing team. Analyzes and evaluates the results and coordinates a monthly KPI dashboard report.

In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications, supports marketing best practices and media planning for intersecting with local, regional and national advertising partners to help with Museum visibility and engagement through the brand and special exhibitions.

Monitors best practices of museums and cultural organizations.

Performs other relevant duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Website Strategy and Management

Supports Museum-wide website content strategy and creation in partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communications, Sr. Graphic Designer and contributing departments across the organization.

Coordinates with Sr. Graphic Designer to produce creative event pages and brand-related web pages focused on new exhibitions, special events, and programming.

Ensures the ISGM website style guide and online identity guidelines are maintained and updated in partnership with the Sr. Graphic Designer.

In partnership with the Sr. Graphic Designer, reports out on website usability issues and QA of new production releases as needed and collaborates with IT team and vendor support on solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in marketing and communications.

5+ years of marketing (traditional, digital, and social) and communications with understanding of how to grow brand awareness and audience engagement.

Demonstrates a high level of ownership and accountability with the ability to multitask and to manage projects and deadlines.

Experience using email platforms - Word Fly, Mail Chimp, Hub Spot

Fluency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office

Insightful and intuitive customer service orientation.

Excellent verbal and written communications.

Strong editing and copywriting skills.

Superb attention to detail.

Commitment to advancing the ISGM’s strategic initiatives.

Experience with Google Workspace and other productivity software.

Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Satisfactory background check.

Museum and/or non-profit experience is highly desirable.
