The Multimedia Specialist leads the creation and production of visual content supporting Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine programs, research, and community. The role is primarily focused on photography (70%) with additional videography (30%). Work appears across the school's websites, publications, and digital channels.
This position shapes visual storytelling, producing photography for the biannual Boston University Medicine Magazine, including cover images and feature stories. The role also supports ongoing needs such as professional portraits, event coverage, and headshots across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Capture high-quality photography for editorial storytelling
Lead photography for major publications, including a twice-yearly magazine
Produce and edit video content to support storytelling and institutional initiatives
Manage projects from planning through final production, including editing and post-production
Maintain equipment and oversee lighting and audio setup as needed
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in photojournalism, multimedia journalism, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in photography and video production
Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with portrait and editorial photography
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Lightroom, and video editing tools such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut
Experience working with lighting and audio equipment
Familiarity with WordPress; basic HTML knowledge is a plus
A cover letter and portfolio are required and should demonstrate both range and quality of work.
