Examines claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine coverages.\nShadows Adjuster in claims investigation and assists by obtaining official reports, inspecting physical damage, and comparing claim information with evidence.\nSets loss reserves with approval of client and management.\nPrepares reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state and federal government and by Crawford.\nSettles claims by determining insurance carrier's liability, client's instructions and authority levels required by obtaining demands and making offers to claimants, issuing settlement checks, making filings with regulatory agencies, disposing of salvage, pursuing subrogation when appropriate.\nControls claims costs.\nMaintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education.\nMaintains company reputation and integrity of insurance products by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.\nReview and approval on reports on losses exceeding $10,000.\nCreates day to day agenda with assistance of manager/supervisor.\nConduct roof inspections as needed.\nUpholds the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.\nParticipates in special projects or performs duties in other areas as requested.\nQualifications

College degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nCompletion of Crawford and Company basic property class, and/or continuing education required for advancement.\nGood verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong analytical and mathematical ability.\nSolid time management skills and organizational ability.\nStrong interpersonal skills\nAbility to handle challenging situations and people with tact and diplomacy.\nOutside adjusters must have a valid driver's license. Must complete continuing education requirements as outlined by Crawford Educational Services.\nA variable schedule including on-call may be required. Qualifications

May be required to work additional hours, overtime hours, or non-standard hours, including varying work shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, based on workload and as the operation dictates

Strong PC/laptop skills to include a claims or appraisal system such as Xactimate and/or Simbility.

Company vehicle, cell phone, and laptop will be provided to qualified applicants that meet Crawford & Company's Background Check, Motor Vehicle Record, and Drug Screen requirements.

Must complete requirements as outlined in Crawford's career path and continuing education plan for position.

Key Responsibilities

Uses knowledge of property and construction to conduct onsite inspections of property damage and photograph claim sites to depict and substantiate losses or damage in order to establish appropriate loss estimates and reserves based on all client information. ; Maintains expected case load and high service standards and adherence to Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

Investigates claims by interviewing claimants and witnesses, obtaining official reports, and comparing claim information with evidence gathered. Obtains necessary information from experts such as architects, engineers, builders, construction workers, police officers, health care practitioners, accountants, and others to fully and accurately assess the extent of the loss. ; Works cooperatively with expert witnesses, attorneys, public adjusters and carrier's examiners as needed to conduct investigations, confirm findings, support evaluations and control claim costs.

Examines claim forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to determine coverage by applying the understanding of insurance policies and policy interpretation.

Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state and federal government and by Crawford. ; Maintains accurate, thorough field notes, journal entries, and time and expense records as needed. ; Prepares accurate, clear, thorough and concise reports and letters to insurance carriers on conclusions and recommendations. ; Ensures the accuracy of information collected and reported to guard against fraudulent claims.

Presents evidence at legal proceedings, producing reports and other documents as evidence

May assist and mentor junior adjusters with claims handling
