Job Description
The Epic Prelude, Cadence, and Health Information Management (HIM) Application Manager provides day-to-day management for Quest patient access and health information management applications, ensuring these systems fully support the company’s clinical, operational, and financial goals. Reporting to the VP of Epic Technology Systems, this manager will be the direct interface between business needs and technical delivery. The core focus will be on maximizing team performance, ensuring the quality and integrity of all system build and testing, and delivering an optimized, high-quality experience for every patient, provider, and partner. This Application Manager drives continuous improvement in quality, compliance, and efficiency across the patient journey, collaborating with enterprise IT, patient access, and revenue‑cycle leadership to deliver a seamless experience.
Salary range: $150,000 to $176,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and other job‑related factors.
Responsibilities
Lead, motivate, and manage a high‑performing team of Epic Prelude, Cadence, and HIM Analysts
Set clear goals and accountability metrics; provide coaching and feedback to develop technical and leadership capabilities within the team
Oversee the team’s backlog and project portfolio, ensuring all configuration, optimization, testing, and integration efforts are prioritized and executed with precision
Ensure the team builds and configures the system with streamlined workflows that deliver an optimal experience for patients, providers, and employees
Partner with stakeholders to ensure the applications remain scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise technology goals
Define KPIs such as registration accuracy, patient throughput, denial rates, and user satisfaction to track performance and make data‑driven improvements
Lead the program portfolio, including new implementations, upgrades, optimization initiatives, and integration projects
Establish and enforce robust testing protocols, quality assurance standards, configuration governance, change‑management standards, and documentation policies
Partner with Epic, third‑party vendors, and internal stakeholders to prioritize build and configuration enhancements and manage issue resolution
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO, EMTALA, SOX, and internal audit standards
Strategically partner with Epic to leverage the full capabilities of the Foundation System, identifying and implementing advanced features that drive a competitive advantage
Review and approve complex system builds (e.g., registration workflows, multi‑specialty scheduling templates, enterprise identity management, release of information configurations) to guarantee data accuracy and system stability
Develop and manage the program budget, including staffing, maintenance, and capital investment planning
Troubleshoot complex problems and perform root cause analysis for process improvements and to ensure the timely delivery of projects
Qualifications Required:
10+ years of extensive experience in Epic Prelude, Cadence, HIM
5+ years’ experience managing technical teams or leading large‑scale initiatives
Demonstrated success overseeing enterprise level change initiatives involving optimization
Deep understanding of patient access operations, front‑end revenue cycle workflows, and health information management processes
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, manage complex projects, and influence senior stakeholders
Strong program management skills with expertise in governance, risk management, and change control
Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
Preferred:
Deep expertise in Laboratory and Diagnostics industry
Experience in healthcare mergers and acquisitions
Background in continuous improvement eg Lean Six Signma and Agile
Cross certification in other Epic modules (Prelude, Cadence, Care Everywhere)
Work Environment:

Education:
College degree in computer science, information science or equivalent work experience (Required)
Prelude, Cadence HIM certifications (Required)
Project Management certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) to support process improvement initiatives (Required)
