Location: **In-Office at our Kettering, OH Location**Schedule: **8:00am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday**Compensation: **$18.50 an Hour!****The Records Specialist-ROI** responds to requests for copies of health records; ensures appropriate paperwork (release of information, subpoena, etc.) is on file, and logs details of requests for health information, in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Ensures that copies include only information that is requested to be released. Tracks required paperwork to ensure that it has been completed and received in a timely manner. Responds to phone calls from insurance companies, clients or their families, requesting medical records. Performs other duties as assigned or as needed, as well as sustaining areas within the electronic medical record (EMR).
Functions of this role performed timely and accurately, affect patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The Records Specialist-ROI complies with all legal, Medicare & private insurance and company rules and regulations.**RESPONSIBILITIES:**• Ensures that appropriate paperwork is on file for copies of health records and ensures that only information that is requested is released
• Complete demographic change requests and routine visit time changes within EMR
• Prioritize, organize, batch, send, and track records for pre or post payment requests
• Assist clients, their families and co-workers in understanding records procedures and order tracking
• Provides support to the Medical Records Team regarding outstanding documentation to keep write-offs to a minimum
• Request and receive completed documentation within required timeline
• Tracks required paperwork to ensure that ADR’s are completed within the required time frame to prevent un-timely payment denials
• Understands and practices agency policies and procedures
• Continually improves practices
• Follows all legal rules and regulations regarding maintaining the EMR
• Follows all legal rules and regulations regarding releasing records
• Attends in-services, educational programs and meetings as necessary
• Assist in survey preparation by retrieving requested documentation**QUALIFICATIONS:**• High School graduate with Associates degree or equivalent experience required
• Health care experience with previous Release of Information (ROI) in the Medical field preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Experience working with World View and e-fax systems is desired
• Experience working with computers is required
