Overview
Environmental Pollution Underwriter (Casualty Team) role at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI). This is a Central Region Casualty team position based out of Chicago or Houston.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop the Environmental book of business which consists of Contractors Pollution Liability (CPL) and Pollution Legal Liability (PLL) business.
- Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships across respective territories.
- Work closely with loss control, actuary, claims, and legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
- Travel as required to achieve business goals.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- 5 - 10 years of Environmental underwriting or similar experience.
- Candidates with 3-8 year of environmental consulting/engineering or geological experience will also be considered.
- Existing regional broker relationships (a plus) and/or proven ability to develop the same.
- Strong underwriting acumen and attention to detail.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills including proven negotiation and presentation experience.

The base salary range for this position in Chicago or Houston is $100,000 - $160,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
