Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Senior Controls Sales Engineer is responsible for driving high-level Building Automation Systems (BAS) sales, including complex retrofits, system integrations, enterprise solutions, and strategic account development. This individual engages with both new and existing clients to deliver advanced controls solutions that improve building performance, energy efficiency, and operational outcomes. This role combines strategic sales leadership with deep technical expertise—owning solution design, proposal development, and customer engagement while influencing account strategy and market growth. The Senior Controls Sales Engineer operates as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, helping customers modernize and optimize their facilities through scalable and innovative controls technologies. This role is critical to expanding LC Anderson’s controls market presence, developing key accounts, and positioning the company as a leader in smart building solutions and system integration.
Job Responsibilities
- Meet & Exceed Sales Targets
- Consistently exceed annual sales plans through the development and closure of complex BAS and controls projects.
- Build, manage, and convert a robust pipeline of high-value opportunities across target markets.
- Drive strategic growth within key accounts and expand controls footprint across existing customers.
- Lead Strategic Account Development
- Serve as the primary controls expert for key and target accounts.
- Develop and execute account strategies focused on long-term partnerships, system standardization, and lifecycle upgrades.
- Identify, influence, and close large-scale opportunities, including multi-site and enterprise-level solutions.
- Build & Maintain Executive-Level Relationships
- Establish trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, including facility leaders, executives, and decision-makers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with service, mechanical sales, and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor and support junior sales engineers and team members in opportunity development and technical selling.
- Develop Advanced Solutions & Proposals
- Lead site assessments, system evaluations, and discovery efforts to identify complex control opportunities.
- Design and engineer advanced BAS solutions, including integrations, analytics, energy optimization, and smart building strategies.
- Develop high-level, accurate, and competitive proposals aligned with customer goals and company standards.
- Present solutions with a focus on ROI, lifecycle value, and operational impact.
- Provide Technical & Industry Leadership
- Serve as a subject matter expert in building automation systems, controls architecture, and system integration.
- Maintain deep knowledge of BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium/Niagara, Siemens, JCI, Schneider) and emerging technologies.
- Stay ahead of industry trends including IoT, analytics, fault detection, and energy services.
- Support Project Execution & Delivery Excellence
- Partner with engineering and project management teams to ensure successful project turnover and execution.
- Provide guidance on scope development, risk identification, and customer expectations.
- Support resolution of complex technical or customer issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive Customer Retention & Lifecycle Growth
- Lead efforts in system upgrades, standardization, and long-term capital planning for customers.
- Identify and drive recurring revenue opportunities including service agreements, analytics, and optimization services.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and long-term partnership.
- Achievement and overperformance of annual sales plan

This position reports to the local Branch Leader and has a responsibility to the entire service team and all of our customers.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience in controls sales, building automation, or advanced HVAC systems.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and closing complex, high-value projects.
- Deep technical expertise in BAS platforms and system integration.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to influence decision-makers and drive strategy.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially at executive levels.
- Experience mentoring or leading others in a sales or technical environment.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands for typing and other office-related tasks, and communicate clearly.
