Customer Service Representative

If you are detail-oriented and enjoy working with the public in a fast-paced environment, you would love to be a Customer Service Representative with the City of Newberry. As a CSR, you would be tasked to process utility payments for City customers, set up accounts for new water and/or electric service, maintain a daily cash drawer and prepare payments for deposit. Along with those tasks, other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, handling customer inquiries and complaints, preparing work orders, and answering phone calls regarding customer accounts and billing. In this position, you will need to be able to multi-task and handle multiple customers and answer phones at the same time. The CSR must have a high degree of detail and accuracy with the ability to identify customer problems and offer solutions while maintaining a quick pace and approachable demeanor to all customers. A Customer Service Representative will occasionally assist customers with business licenses, collect fees associated with local hospitality and accommodations taxes, collect payments for other City departments and assign them to the proper accounts. Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Must have cash handling experience. High school diploma or GED equivalent with one (1) to two (2) years of experience with general accounting, cash handling, or customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. SC Notary Preferred Bilingual Preferred Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License. Non-Exempt Hourly Position: $17.50 - $20.00 per hour City Hall's Business Hours: Monday

Friday 8:30am

5pm, but in this position, employees have the flexibility to work an alternative schedule with a

day off weekly. Fringe Benefits: 11 holidays per year + 1 annual floating birthday. Accrue a day per month of sick leave starting from date of hire. Rollover up to 18 weeks of leave annually. From date of hire, accrue two weeks of vacation time annually up to 2 years of service; then accruals increase to three weeks; at 15 years of service, accruals increase to four weeks. Rollover up to eight weeks of time annually. Employer covers the basic dental, life, and long-term disability with 97% paid individual health insurance. SC Retirement system contributing 9% with an employer 18.56% match. Eligible to participate in the City's wellness program. Eligible to participate in 401k/457b deferred compensation program.
