Position Overview
Rider University invites applications for a Public Relations Manager. The Public Relations Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and writing University news and feature stories, and managing the rider.edu/news webpage (News @ Rider). The position leads the University's external media relations and earned media efforts, proactively seeking story opportunities and pitching them to the media. The Public Relations Manager serves as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and works closely with University leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent external communications aligned with institutional priorities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in public relations, media relations, journalism, or a related communications role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Familiarity with crisis communications and issues management.
  • Experience using media monitoring and distribution tools.
  • Knowledge of digital and social media as it relates to public relations and reputation management.
