Director of Strategic Information & Engagement is a senior, execution-focused leader within the Chief Academic Officer (CAO)/Dean’s Office at Advocate Health and Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Reporting to the Vice Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff, this role is responsible for bringing structure, clarity, and discipline to how information, messaging, and institutional priorities are developed, coordinated, and delivered in support of the academic mission.

This role requires exceptional judgment, executive-level writing capability, and the ability to influence, coordinate, and deliver in a complex, highly matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Information Coordination & Alignment:

    1. Serve as the primary liaison between the CAO/Dean’s Office and enterprise internal and external communications partners to ensure alignment on priorities, strategies, timelines, and deliverables.
    2. Partner with cross-functional units to ensure CAO/Dean’s Office priorities are reflected consistently and executed effectively across communications, engagement, and institutional updates.
    3. Drive development and execution of a cohesive information and engagement approach that bridges internal and external efforts.
  • Dean’s Office Information & Messaging Infrastructure:

    1. Develop and manage a structured framework for Dean’s Office information flow, including regular talking points, leadership briefings, curated messages, and executive updates.
    2. Establish clear standards for what information is communicated, to whom, when, and through which channels.
    3. Ensure consistency, accuracy, and discipline in how institutional messages are developed, reviewed, and released.
  • Enterprise Strategy Communication & Engagement:

    1. Support communication and engagement related to enterprise academic strategy initiatives through structured updates, briefs, and coordinated content.
    2. Translate complex organizational strategies and initiatives into clear, actionable information for varied audiences, including academic leadership, health system leaders, and governance bodies.
    3. Ensure enterprise academic priorities are communicated with clarity and consistency across channels and stakeholders.
  • Executive Writing & Content Development:

    1. Draft, edit, and finalize high-quality content on behalf of the CAO/Dean’s Office, including remarks, talking points, leadership communications, and institutional updates.
    2. Prepare briefings, summaries, and minutes for boards, senior leadership meetings, and high-level engagements.
    3. Develop written content that highlights School of Medicine initiatives, accomplishments, and strategic priorities for diverse internal and external audiences.
    4. Ensure messaging is polished, audience-appropriate, politically thoughtful, and aligned with institutional tone and priorities.
  • Digital & Information Platforms:

    1. Maintain and update internal and external digital platforms relevant to the CAO/Dean’s Office and School of Medicine initiatives.
    2. Ensure published information is accurate, timely, and aligned with institutional messaging standards.
    3. Coordinate with enterprise partners to manage content updates and ensure appropriate governance of information platforms.
  • Events & Institutional Initiatives:

    1. Lead information planning and execution for major CAO/Dean and School of Medicine events and initiatives.
    2. Coordinate timelines, messaging, materials, and cross-unit inputs to support successful execution of high-visibility engagements.
    3. Support development of slides, briefing materials, and preparatory content for executive presentations and institutional milestones.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in roles requiring executive-level strategic development and execution in communications, writing, coordination, and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated ability to support senior leaders in complex, high-visibility environments.
  • Experience operating laterally across multiple units or organizations; background in healthcare, academic medicine, or higher education preferred.
