Position Overview

The Director of St. Paul Christian Learning Center (CLC) plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the effective daily operation of the center while providing children with learning activities and experiences that support their development physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

The Director leads staff, oversees classroom operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and builds strong relationships with families, the church, and the community. This position reports to and receives guidance from the St. Paul Christian Learning Center Board and supervises all CLC staff and center functions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong early childhood education leadership, operational management, and regulatory knowledge while fostering a nurturing, Christian-centered environment for children, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Staff Management

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate CLC staff to maintain a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and excellence.
  • Support and mentor teachers to ensure high-quality classroom instruction and care.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and ensure staff meet all training and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach in classrooms at all age levels and fulfill essential classroom teacher functions when needed.

Operations and Administration

  • Ensure the daily operations of St. Paul Christian Learning Center comply with:
    • CLC Board policies and procedures
    • Center by‑laws and rules of operation
    • Texas Health and Human Services Commission licensing requirements
    • Applicable state, county, and federal regulations
  • Maintain accurate and organized records for children, families, and employees.
  • Develop and maintain the CLC’s daily and ongoing financial operations, including payroll processing and payment of bills, as well as personnel and operational needs.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and compliance with staffing requirements.
  • Partner with the CLC Board in supporting operational goals including budgeting, enrollment, and program growth.

Program and Curriculum Oversight

  • Ensure curriculum implementation meets early childhood development standards.
  • Maintain high-quality classroom environments and educational experiences.
  • Promote developmentally appropriate learning activities that support children's overall growth.
  • Partner with related church staff for weekly chapel and music program.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with families, church members, staff, and the broader community.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding student development and center activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through open, respectful, and effective communication.

Mission and Spiritual Leadership

  • Uphold and maintain the goals, objectives, and Christian values of St. Paul Christian Learning Center.
  • Actively participate in the life of a Christian church (preferably LCMS).
  • Continue personal spiritual growth through devotion, prayer, and Bible study.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or associate’s degree in early childhood education required.
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience, preferably in an early childhood program.
  • Minimum two years of management experience in a licensed childcare center preferred.
  • Director-qualified in the State of Texas.

Required Certifications and Compliance

  • Must pass background check and fingerprinting.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Complete 24 hours of pre‑service training required by Texas Childcare Regulations.
  • Maintain ongoing minimum training hours required by Texas Childcare Regulations.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development practices and curriculum standards.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, administration, and childcare center operations.
  • Ability to problem‑solve effectively with parents, staff, church members, and the CLC Board.
  • Ability to work productively and collegially with church staff and leadership to support the mission of the church and ensure the well‑being of the children and families served by the Learning Center.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and decision‑making abilities.

Job Type

Full‑time, In Person

Salary

$50,000 – $55,000 per year (based on experience)
