
Director Finance - Physician Practices
Azspineandjoint, Nashville, TN, United States
This is a hybrid position based at our corporate office in Brentwood, TN, with on-site work required Monday through Wednesday.
Responsibilities
Oversee accounting and financial support for multiple physician practices and anesthesia services of varying size and complexity
Lead financial oversight of physician practices, including:
Practice-level profitability analysis
Provider productivity reporting
Physician compensation model support
Financial evaluation of new provider recruitment and service line expansion
Perform monthly close in accordance with
GAAP and SOX
requirements
Conduct monthly income statement reviews and operational trend analyses, with a focus on:
Provider productivity
Revenue cycle performance
Practice-level operating metrics
Ensure integrity of the
General Ledger and OneStream financial systems
Develop and maintain practice-level dashboards and KPIs, including payer mix, case volume, expense benchmarking, and productivity metrics
Lead physician practice budgeting, provider ramp modeling, and staffing forecasts as part of the annual budget process
Perform financial diligence for physician practice acquisitions, including analysis of historical financials, productivity trends, revenue cycle metrics, and payer mix
Build and maintain acquisition models and pro formas for potential partnerships or acquisitions
Support integration planning for acquired practices in collaboration with operations, legal, and corporate development teams
Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors
Act as a trusted financial advisor to operations leaders and physician leadership, identifying opportunities to improve financial and operational performance
Drive continuous improvement across finance and accounting processes, with a focus on standardization, scalability, and automation
Identify and implement best practices that can be scaled enterprise-wide
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
Healthcare finance experience required; physician practice or multi-site medical group experience strongly preferred
Proven management experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
Demonstrated success influencing operational and physician leaders through clear, actionable financial insights
Experience analyzing physician productivity, practice performance, or provider compensation models preferred
Experience with physician practice acquisitions, financial diligence, or healthcare transaction modeling preferred
Experience managing up to
3 direct reports and 10 indirect reports
Experience recruiting, onboarding, and developing finance talent
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong working knowledge of
GAAP and SOX
compliance
Proven ability to close financial statements within
Day 8 or Day 9
timelines
Experience identifying and resolving SOX control deficiencies
Advanced data and financial systems expertise, including data warehouses and advanced Excel skills
Preferred experience with
OneStream and/or Solomon
Ability to work effectively with JV partners and physician stakeholders
Comfortable training, mentoring, and developing team members
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
