
Senior Director, Supply Chain - Project Management Capability & Strategic Initia

The Project Director, Supply Chain Project Management Capability & Strategic Initiatives, is responsible for establishing and evolving the enterprise expectations, requirements, and ways of working for project managers across the NAOU Supply Chain. This role will partner closely with Supply Chain leaders to assess current project management maturity, define future‑state capabilities, and build a practical framework and roadmap to strengthen project delivery capability and capacity across the enterprise.
In addition, the Project Director will lead select strategic initiatives as required, ensuring disciplined execution, strong stakeholder alignment, and value realization. This role serves as a thought leader for project management excellence, enabling consistent, efficient, and successful project outcomes across the NAOU Supply Chain.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities: Project Management Capability & Maturity
Establish clear enterprise expectations for project managers across the NAOU Supply Chain, including roles, responsibilities, core competencies, and required deliverables across the project lifecycle.
Partner with Supply Chain leaders to assess current project management maturity and identify capability gaps across functions and teams.
Define a future‑state project management capability model, aligned to NAOU Supply Chain strategy, complexity, and scale.
Develop and maintain a multi‑year roadmap to build project management capability and capacity, including skills, tools, and ways of working.
Frameworks, Tools & Templates
Design and steward a standard project management framework to enable consistent and efficient project execution across the enterprise.
Identify, evaluate, and implement critical tools, templates, and best practices that improve project planning, execution, reporting, and governance.
Ensure tools and templates are practical, scalable, and aligned to the needs of both strategic and operational initiatives.
Promote adoption through clear guidance, enablement, and partnership with project managers and functional leaders.
Strategic Initiative Leadership
Lead complex, cross‑functional strategic initiatives as required, from concept through delivery and value realization.
Partner with executive sponsors to translate strategic objectives into clear charters, scope, milestones, and success metrics.
Drive disciplined execution, risk and issue management, and decision‑making cadence to ensure initiatives remain aligned to enterprise priorities.
Stakeholder Partnership & Change Leadership
Partners with leaders across Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Procurement, Technology, Finance, and other Supply Chain functions to embed project management/execution best practices and expectations into strategic project execution to optimize resource utilization and drive improved value realization.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on project execution, capacity planning, and delivery risk.
Support change management efforts associated with new project management standards, tools, and ways of working to drive sustained adoption.
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Management
Establish mechanisms to capture lessons learned, best practices, and performance insights from completed projects and imbed into new workstreams.
Use insights to continuously evolve frameworks, tools, and capability development priorities.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
PMP Certification
Related Work Experience
10+ years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management within a complex Supply Chain or large matrixed organization.
Functional
Demonstrated experience building or maturing project management capabilities, frameworks, or PMO‑related standards at an enterprise or functional level.
Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional strategic initiatives with senior leadership engagement.
Strong influencing, facilitation, and communication skills; able to drive alignment without direct authority.
Experience selecting and implementing project management tools, templates, and governance mechanisms.
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect project execution to strategic outcomes.
Effective interpersonal and communications skills
Excellent problem‑solving skills & troubleshooting skills
Ability to collaborate and influence cross‑functionally to deliver results
Knowledge of the NAOU processes, roles, culture, & etc.
Proficiency with MS suite of tools (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Pay Range:
$162,000 - $188,000
Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
Annual Incentive Reference Value Percentage:
30
Annual Incentive reference value is a market‑based competitive value for your role. It falls in the middle of the range for your role, indicating performance at target.
