The Global Client Pursuits, Senior Manager – Americas will lead complex project‑based and panel RFPs across the Americas region as part of the Global Client Pursuits (GCP) team, ensuring the delivery of high‑value, multijurisdictional (typically global) and multi‑practice pitches for the Firm’s key clients and strategic pursuits.
The role‑holder will influence Partners and senior stakeholders, collaborate closely with colleagues across Business Development, Marketing and Communications (BDMC), and model best practices through coaching, process development, and knowledge‑sharing. The individual will also manage or oversee the development of business‑as‑usual standard proposals in partnership with BDMC colleagues and more junior team members.
As a member of the Americas GCP team and the wider global GCP community, the role‑holder will work with regional expert teams in AP and EMEA and with follow‑the‑sun service centers in Manila, Tampa, and Buenos Aires.
Main responsibilities:
Serve as the lead for managing winning panels and proposals for key clients from start to finish, including writing and project management
Proactively develop and manage client‑centric key messages, content, and marshal resources to ensure that high‑quality, winning proposals are delivered on time
Influence and guide Partners to deploy best‑practice approaches to proposals, from opportunity assessments to bid documentation to presentation coaching
Provide coaching and training for Partners, lawyers, and BDMC professionals on all aspects of pitch and presentation best‑practice
Conduct post‑pitch debrief meetings, providing feedback to the business to support learning and development
Create detailed briefs and provide coaching for junior team members to produce fit‑for‑purpose draft proposals and formatting and design requests, leveraging pitch‑content automation technology
Coach, train, develop, and oversee junior team members
Become deeply familiar with Baker resources and teams, leveraging the proposal process for bids and pitches, as well as panel proposals, for high‑value and key client opportunities
Team with GCP colleagues worldwide—including North and Latin America, Asia Pacific, and EMEA—to deliver on pitches where needed following the sun and sharing best practice
Take responsibility for best‑practice sessions and thought‑leadership writing, as well as providing input into the Baker World intranet pages
Collaborate with BDMC professionals worldwide, including client managers, industry and practice group BDMs, and in‑market BDMs, to leverage client intelligence, practice and industry know‑how, case studies, and credentials
Engage with other Professional Services teams, such as pricing strategy, legal project management, and knowledge, to deliver profitable and added‑value solutions
Skills and experience:
Extensive experience in business development and communications within the professional services sector, including hands‑on proposal development and strong project management skills
Excellent organizational skills; able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal skills to manage remote teams of lawyers and BDMC professionals
Persuasive communication and diplomacy skills; able to manage multiple requests for support, assess opportunities, and provide clear direction when working with highly intelligent and demanding internal clients at all levels
Client service focus, flexibility, and a can‑do attitude, combined with strong motivation, enthusiasm, and personal drive

Pay Transparency
This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked.
The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $160,000 to $180,000 annually if located in an office in the state of Illinois. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
