The Benefit Specialist will administer benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability and voluntary products, and some client-sponsored plans with Engage PEO’s clients. This role will deliver exceptional health and benefits support to our clients and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer health and welfare benefit plans
Client-sponsored plans setup and ongoing carrier enrollment, reconciliation, and support
Process status change report daily - insurance enrollments, terminations, and qualified life events
Responds to benefits inquiries on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries
Processes Medical support orders
Updates coverage on approved or denied evidence of insurability
Participates in open enrollment activities
Work directly with carriers to resolve issues related to claims, eligibility, and service
Process requests from employees or carriers for Life, Disability, State Disability, and Paid Family leave
Add or remove NY Disability coverage directly with the carrier
Responds to correspondence, emails, and phone calls from clients, employees, and vendors
OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct audits and quality checks for the accuracy of benefits-related data
Review and manage benefits eligibility and deduction information, and review interface reports between the payroll system, Payroll Department, and carriers
Perform analysis and reconciliations, and resolves errors
Performs other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field
Minimum 3 + years experience in benefits administration
Worked in or with insurance agencies or brokers
Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience
iSolved HCM experience required, PrismHR a plus
Proficient with MS Office and Intermedial Microsoft EXCEL skills.
Knowledge of Federal and state laws regarding employee benefits and insurance, such as the ACA, Section 125, COBRA, HIPAA, PPA, and ERISA
Familiarity and understanding of Insurance, employee benefit plans, and PEOs
Knowledge of benefits policies, practices, and administrative procedures
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The starting base pay for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this hourly range.
Hourly Rate Range: $25.00-$33.00 per hour BENEFITS
