Vera French is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Director of Housing & Property Management
to lead our housing operations and support our mission of providing safe, supportive, and affordable housing for individuals living with mental illness.
Position Summary The Director provides hands‑on leadership for all housing and property management operations, including maintenance, compliance, and policy administration. Working under the direction of the CEO and in partnership with the Housing Board of Directors, this role ensures high‑quality, compliant, and sustainable housing services.
This position oversees staff, coordinates property maintenance and vendor relationships, and plays a key role in strategic planning and operational success.
What You’ll Do Leadership & Strategy
Advise the Housing Board on operational policy and implementation
Lead strategic planning to ensure progress toward organizational goals
Collaborate with the Executive Director of Housing Development to transition new properties into operations
Operations & Compliance
Oversee all housing operations, performance, and financial management
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal housing regulations
Prepare and present operational, financial, and compliance reports
Property & Financial Management
Secure and maintain financing for rental property operations
Oversee maintenance, repairs, and capital projects
Coordinate with staff and external vendors
Supervision & Team Management
Directly supervise staff, including scheduling, assignments, and evaluations
Provide leadership across property management and maintenance teams
Community Engagement
Represent Vera French Housing & Facilities in the community
Build and maintain strong local partnerships
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, urban planning, social work, or a related field
OR
Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and senior‑level experience
Preferred Experience
Leadership experience in property management, nonprofit administration, or related fields
Knowledge of housing programs serving individuals with persistent mental illness
Experience with rental property financing and local real estate markets
Strong background in budgeting, operations, and strategic planning
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license
Ability to pass pre‑employment physical, including drug and alcohol screening
