Description Position Summary
The Director of Project Operations leads the execution and profitability of our Building Services projects, overseeing commercial HVAC changeouts, retrofit work, and electrical operations. This senior leader sets project delivery strategy, drives financial performance, and upholds operational standards while guiding Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership teams.
By translating company strategy into disciplined, repeatable execution, the Director ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget—directly impacting client satisfaction, margins, and long‑term growth.
This role is ideal for a senior leader with hands‑on experience in commercial HVAC or MEP project environments.
Salary:
Starting at $150,000+, negotiable based on experience.
In addition to the base salary, the employee will receive either a company vehicle and gas card OR $700/vehicle allowance and a company gas card.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams across multiple active projects
Serve as a senior, client‑facing leader, building strong customer relationships and supporting repeat business
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements
Own project and departmental P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and margin management
Establish and enforce standardized project management processes, reporting, and controls
Act as the escalation point for complex project, financial, or operational issues
Champion safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all projects
Mentor and develop project and field leadership, support staffing and performance management
Partner cross‑functionally with sales, estimating, finance, and operations to drive successful execution
Provide performance reporting, insights, and recommendations to division leadership
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
10+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or MEP construction, with progressive leadership responsibility
Proven experience leading project teams and managing multiple concurrent projects
Demonstrated ownership of project financial performance and P&L accountability
Strong understanding of construction operations, contracts, scheduling, and cost controls
Experience implementing and enforcing safety, quality, and operational standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard project reporting tools
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs, as needed.
Ability to climb ladders and access job sites, rooftops, and mechanical spaces on an as‑needed basis.
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout job sites, including walking up to approximately 5,000 steps in a workday.
Ability to safely operate, or be trained to operate, forklifts and other equipment as required for the role.
Ability to distinguish colors as required for safety, equipment identification, and diagnostics.
