
Tax Director

A growing U.S. organization is seeking a Tax Director to lead all aspects of its tax function, including compliance, tax accounting, and strategic planning. This role is ideal for a hands‑on tax leader who can bring structure, oversight, and forward‑looking guidance to a multi‑state environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute tax strategies aligned with corporate business objectives.
Monitor federal, state, and local tax law changes; identify planning opportunities and compliance impacts.
Drive improvements to tax processes, systems, and reporting.
Oversee accurate and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, including indirect tax obligations.
Manage relationships with state/local taxing authorities regarding property, sales/use, and other indirect taxes.
Lead the tax accounting function, including income tax provision preparation and financial statement analysis.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards related to the reporting of income taxes.
Represent the company during audits and support issue resolution with tax authorities.
Collaborate closely with accounting, finance, legal, and external auditors.
Oversee implementation and maintenance of tax compliance technology solutions.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals.
Prepare tax‑related reports, presentations, and analyses for senior leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
CPA required.
12+ years of combined public accounting and/or corporate tax experience.
Experience with multi‑state tax compliance and tax accounting.
Exposure to real estate, infrastructure, or asset‑heavy industries helpful (but not required).
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Proficiency with tax compliance systems and Microsoft Office applications.
