OSU Physicians is proud to announce the opening of our new Powell location in August, and we are currently hiring a Senior Cardiovascular Sonographer to support our clinical team. Responsibilities The Senior Vascular Sonographer performs diagnostic vascular examinations, utilizing equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical pathological and functional data of the vascular system. They are recognized as clinical experts in the field of Vascular Sonography, performing high skill level ultrasound exams (mesenteric and renal arteries), participating in the lab accreditation process as well as the quality improvement/assurance process.
Recognized as clinical expert in the field of Vascular Sonography performing high skill level ultrasound exams, participating in the lab accreditation process as well as the quality improvement/assurance process.
Consistent performance (at least 50% of the time) of all high skill level exams performed within the lab; exams include but are not limited to mesenteric and renal arteries that correlate with other modalities (CT, angiography, surgery).
Regarded as a subject matter expert and mentor for Vascular Sonographers and physicians. Provide education and training to sonographers. Serves as a professional and technical role model for staff.
Assists teaching students, residents, fellows and new employees.
Assists with workflow and scheduling and rescheduling of exams when necessary.
Assists with equipment service needs (Preventative Maintenance and repair) when management is not present, or as delegated.
Expected to present at OSU annual conference to be recognized regionally and nationally as an expert and develop skills to present interesting and organized presentations.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of clinical indications and vascular procedures performed.
Independently perform all diagnostic vascular examinations within ARDMS scope of practice.
Independently perform high skill level vascular ultrasound exams (mesenteric and renal arteries).
Completes findings for each exam. Confirms the necessary information is present according to IAC standards and vascular lab protocols.
Creates permanent recording of findings in VascuPro, per vascular lab protocols, for analysis and interpretation based on the disease state of the patient presented for testing.
Detects malfunctions and disease states of patient’s vasculature, determining anatomy and variability from patient–to–patient to optimize the ultrasound tools required to obtain technically satisfactory images.
Acts within ARDMS scope of practice, utilizes independent, professional judgment to adapt procedure plan to optimize exam results.
Clearly translates data from exam into written report for physician interpretation.
Consults with physician regarding preliminary findings prior to the physician’s interpretation, including special considerations and measurements. Contact covering physician if urgent findings are present.
Ensures timely scheduling of urgent/add-on exams.
Provides education to the patient and/or family pertaining to the exam.
Ensures proper maintenance (wiping/cleaning) of equipment and willingness to troubleshoot equipment issues.
Evaluates and recommends new products and equipment when discovered by attending conferences or reading journals.
Serves as backup Lead Sonographer when Lead Sonographer is not available.
Travel to satellite locations and clinic sites may be necessary to perform job duties
Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients.
Other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of accredited (CAAHEP) ultrasound program (Associate or Bachelor) or equivalent education and experience
Current RVT and BCLS certification.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a vascular sonographer.
Vascular ultrasound experience including working knowledge of ultrasound equipment (imagers and physiological).
Thorough knowledge of, and ability toConsistent performance of high skill level exams (mesenteric and renal arteries) that correlate with other modalities (CT, angiography, surgery).
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuous learning through willingness to attend and participate at conferences.
