The Stevens Point Area YMCA is seeking a dynamic and mission‑driven Director for YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow, a 100+ acre outdoor education and summer camp program serving youth, families, and the community.

The Director of YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple program areas including:

Summer Camp programs – both resident and day camp

School‑year programming for before and after school of 7 elementary schools

School district partnerships

Annual fundraising initiatives and events

YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow facilities and grounds

This leader works closely with staff, volunteers, and the YMCA Leadership Team to ensure program growth, safety, member satisfaction, and financial sustainability.

Education/Training/Certifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in education, child development, recreation, camp management, environmental education, or related field preferred.

2. CPR and First Aid certification

3. New hire orientation

4. Blood Borne Pathogens Training

5. Lifeguarding certification preferred or ability to obtain

6. ARC Emergency Response or equivalent required by start of Summer Camp Program

7. Valid Wisconsin Hunters Safety Certificate or ability to obtain

8. Training and certification to facilitate low‑ropes course programming or ability to obtain

9. Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff & Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting Awareness

10. In‑service training to maintain child care licensing certification

11. Valid Class D driver’s license

Technical Knowledge/Skills

At least two years’ experience working with youth, ages 6‑17 years

At least two years’ summer camp experience in a leadership capacity

Must meet qualifications for:

Program Director under DCF 252 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers (School‑Age Care)

Working knowledge of DCF 251 and 252 Licensing Rules for Wisconsin

Experience in outdoor adventure/recreational activities (e.g. backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing), experiential education, environmental education, arts and crafts, campfires and field sports

A thorough working knowledge of the characteristics and development of youth and age‑appropriate programming

Must have a background in team building activities, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and relationship building with all ages

Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and other basic computer functions

Supervisory experience and skills and experience with recruitment and management of staff and volunteers
