Location: Springfield Urban League Inc. - Administrative Office 100 North 11 th Street
Position Description:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our organization. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing and executing marketing strategies to enhance our organization's visibility, online engagement, and assist in communicating opportunities for the community. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in marketing, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine commitment to our mission.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the strategy, development, and implementation of SUL’s marketing, social media, branding, digital, and communication activities.
Assist with the design and creation of marketing materials and organize all marketing events to expose agency and offerings to its target audience.
Assist with the development of materials needed for SUL annual special events, i.e., flyers, event booklets, invitations, newsletters, etc.
Collaborate and work closely with staff members in various departments to develop marketing pieces for programs and community events, communicate marketing trends and intelligence, and produce reports.
Coordinate event planning with departments and assist with the SUL Outreach Team.
Attend SUL-sponsored events and workshops and outside after-hour activities to build a photo library of SUL's presence in the community and ensure agency messaging and presence align with our brand.
Manage our online job boards, internal digital screens, and create content for our e-Newsletter.
Manage website events, edits, and cosmetic alterations.
Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in prioritizing tasks, multi-tasking, and working harmoniously with other team members.
Conduct bi-weekly departmental check-ins.
Demonstrate preeminent creativity and experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
Maintain the ability to work weekends and evenings as required, to support SUL activities and events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and iMovie, and other photo/video editing platforms.
Proven knowledge of different digital platforms and how to utilize them.
Basic knowledge of web design procedures.
2-4 years of experience.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
Detailed-oriented.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
90-Day Success Metrics:
40 publishable social media posts including reels, stories, page postings, and data storytelling documenting the CDF Freedom School and Camp Nkiru Summer Leadership Program.
Build a digital content library in Dropbox containing at least 300 photos and videos.
Produce 10 spotlight stories and capture 10 testimonials from students, families, or staff.
Website Management: Complete 10-15 website updates or edits supporting program promotion and organizational updates.
Assist with planning and promotion of 3-5 organizational events and provide measurable outcomes.
Core Competencies:
Ability to capture compelling photos, videos, and narratives that highlight program impact and community outcomes.
Demonstrate ability to work in fast paced environment and work effectively with program staff.
Proficiency in managing multiple platforms, increasing engagement, understanding algorithms, and creating platform-specific content.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to support planning, marketing, and execution of organizational events and community programming.
Proactively identify storytelling opportunities and develop marketing ideas.
