We are looking for a skilled and motivated professional with experience working on commercial interior projects. The ideal candidate will be involved in all phases of the design process, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. This role requires the ability to resolve complex technical and design challenges, as well as proficiency in space planning.
Responsibilities will include participation in the selection and specification of furniture systems, coordination with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives are achieved. The role also involves assisting in managing client expectations, facilitating effective team communication, and coordinating with consultants. Additionally, the candidate will support construction administration efforts, including reviewing submittals and finish samples.
Essential Job Functions:
Interprets client requirements and develops cohesive design concepts, integrating interior design principles.
Prepares key design and construction documents, including plans, elevations, layouts, and schedules.
Selects and researches colors, finishes, materials, furnishings, and lighting with attention to proportion, scale, and texture.
Creates presentation materials and models to communicate design intent.
Conducts space planning, programming, and site analysis, including field measurements.
Coordinates with consultants, vendors, and internal teams to support project execution.
Participates in construction observations and ensures alignment with design goals.
Contributes to marketing efforts and may assist with presentations or administrative coordination.
Experience:
Professional Degree in Interior Design or related discipline
5-7 years' experience in the application of interior design principles and theory
Fundamental experience in programming, planning principles, materials, and furnishings
Knowledge of CAD and Revit 3D modeling skills
Sketching and graphic design skills
Provides design support to the project team
Ability to direct and coordinate work efforts of administrative staff
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Collaborative and professional work ethic
NCIDQ Certification required
