These four entities are:* Forestry & Utility Division* Environmental Division* Technology & Innovation Division* Sustainability Division**JOB SUMMARY:** The Archaeological Field Director will plan and support cultural resources projects throughout New Mexico, including fieldwork coordination, field data management, deliverables preparation and support, agency coordination, and other cultural resources-related project activities. This is a field-based position, without an in-office requirement.**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:* Pre-field literature reviews* Background and archival research* Plan and coordinate fieldwork* Conduct Class III (intensive pedestrian) cultural resources inventory* Document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs* NRHP eligibility evaluations* Assess and manage field data collected by others* Draft deliverables preparation and deliverable revisions* Conduct archaeological monitoring during various construction activities* Daily monitoring and/or inspection forms* Draft monitoring reports* Coordinate with state and federal agencies* Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings* Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownership* Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures**OTHER DUTIES:** Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.* Position will require outside travel**JOB REQUIREMENTS:*** Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field* Completion of a field school* Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience* Listed on the New Mexico SHPO Directory at the Supervisory Archaeologist/Crew Chief level* Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology statewide in New Mexico* Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and isolates statewide in New Mexico* Use hand-held field technology (i.e., ArcGIS phone/tablet application paired with sub-meter GPS receivers)* Survey an average of 50 acres/8 miles per day (not including resource documentation) and carry personal health and safety equipment (i.e., personal water, sunscreen, etc.)* Work in moderate weather conditions (fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather, including rain and snow)* Perform work duties independently and efficiently, while working in a team setting* Ability to follow instructions and to make adjustments when provided feedback* Organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy* Excellent navigational skills (GPS and compass) and ability to navigate and drive 4WD vehicles* Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:*** Proficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications (for phone or tablet)* Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings* Strong writing and editing skills* Strong communication and organization skills* Authored multiple archaeological site forms and inventory reports* Prior experience supporting state and federal agenciesEocene Environmental Group, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
