Architectural & Design Specification Sales
Hill Residential, Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Hill Residential is looking for a relationship-driven sales professional to join our specification team in the DC Metro Area covering Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
In this role, you’re the connective tissue between residential specifiers’ design intent and the technical solutions we provide. You’ll work directly with the region’s top interior designers and architects - helping them specify best-in-class residential systems from lighting and lighting controls to whole-home audio, home theater, and window treatments.
You will be a trusted resource inside the A&D community and someone design professionals call when they need a partner who can translate their vision into a technically sound, beautifully integrated system.
What You’ll Do
Own relationships —
Build and deepen connections with architects, interior designers, and other residential specifiers across the DMV.
Be the bridge —
Translate design intent into technical solutions, guiding specifiers through product selection for lighting, controls, audio, home theater, and window systems.
Educate and inspire —
Deliver product presentations and CEU courses to design firms — making complex technology feel approachable and exciting.
Represent our brand —
Attend industry events, trade shows, and social functions as the face of Hill Residential and our manufacturers in the DC market.
Carefully shepherd projects —
Track specifications from early concept through installation, coordinating with internal teams to keep projects moving.
Drive growth —
Meet and exceed sales goals by building a strong pipeline within the designer and architect community.
Stay sharp —
Become a product expert across our manufacturer portfolio so you can quickly and confidently answer the questions specifiers need answers to.
Mind the details —
Maintain accurate account, contact, and project data in Repfabric CRM.
Who You Are
You’re energized by building relationships, winning projects, and solving problems that require both aesthetic sensibility and technical fluency.
You live in the DC Metro Area (DC, Maryland, or Virginia) and know the market.
You’re self-directed and self-sufficient. You manage your own territory, your own time, and your own momentum wisely.
You understand the specification world - the long timelines, the relationship building, and the resilience required to follow a project from start to finish and beyond.
You communicate with clarity and confidence. Whether you’re presenting to a principal at an architecture firm or troubleshooting a spec with an integrator, you hold the room.
You’re a team player. You know that collaboration is key to succeeding in your role and you work well with others.
You’re organized and detail oriented. Balancing travel, follow-ups, in-person trainings, and long-cycle project tracking doesn’t intimidate you.
You have a genuine love for design, technology, or both. A background in lighting, controls, architecture, interior design, AV, or a related field is strongly preferred.
