HR Specialist
Downtown Birmingham, AL (On-site) | $50,000-$60,000
Vaco has been engaged by a top Birmingham employer to identify an HR Specialist. The HR Specialist will be responsible for recruiting exempt and non-exempt staff and providing HR support to all levels of the company. The HR Specialist requires a high level of organization and attention to detail. Ideal candidates will be able work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and using independent judgment.
Responsibilities
Manage the staffing process of exempt and non‑exempt staff by posting open positions, screening and qualifying applicants, conducting phone screens, coordinating on‑site interviews, assisting hiring managers with selection decisions, and tracking applicant activities
Proven ability to effectively juggle multiple initiatives and work in an environment with shifting priorities
Respond to employee questions, review issues and employee concerns in expedient manner
Advise managers on HR issues relating to their offices and staff
Maintain personnel records on all employees
Facilitate Benefits and Open Enrollment
Ensure compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws
Maintain all compliance for Form I-9s and other compliance reports, as needed
Process worker's compensation, unemployment claims, FLMA's
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree from a
regionally accredited
university; PHR or other HR Certification preferred
Minimum of
2years
of progressive Human Resources experience
Software skills desired – MS Office suite (including Excel) and Outlook
Knowledge and understanding of state and federal employment laws and regulations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi‑task
