Commissions Accounting Specialist

This position is required to work on‑site in our Chicagoland (Glenview, IL) office most days. Everyone receives three flexible remote days per month and six additional Friday PTO days each year! And, we offer half‑day Fridays – every Friday!

This role, which reports to the Accounting Supervisor, is responsible for assisting with the monthly reconciliation and payment to agents for weekly new business and monthly renewals. It also assists with weekly accounts payable and the preparation of the monthly financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

Reconcile monthly carrier payments in the commissions system to ensure accurate and timely payment to agents and prepare lapse and advance reports.

Prepare 1099s and 1099Cs.

Reconcile bank accounts by gathering and balancing information.

Process weekly accounts payable vouchers.

Prepare various journal entries.

Provide management with financial information, analyze accounts and prepare monthly financial statements.

Assist in other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of one year of experience in Accounting or Finance.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Knowledge of the insurance industry preferred.

Strong customer service and problem‑solving skills.

Demonstrated initiative and a positive can‑do attitude.

Proven problem‑solving and analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
