Sr. Group Sales Manager
Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing
Our 562 suites offer a refined, residential experience—complete with striking city views and up to 2,700 square feet of private accommodations. Epicurean delights await at Dabble, our lobby-level restaurant enjoyed by hotel guests and New Yorkers alike.
Job Summary The Sr. Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving and executing strategic sales initiatives to drive group revenue across key segments, including corporate, association, and social markets. The ideal candidate is a dynamic sales professional with strong market insight, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to generate new and repeat group business.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her specific market segment
Responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues
Identify and secure new business opportunities across corporate, association, SMERF, and social group segments
Maintain strong relationships with key clients, meeting planners, and industry partners
Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property
Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
Research, solicit and generate new leads for business opportunities through database research and proactive sales efforts; focus on meeting & exceeding sales activity goals.
Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market
Meets with potential clients to discuss needs; conduct tours of the property and negotiates guest room rates, meeting room rentals, function space and hotel services within approved booking guidelines, and secures business.
Prepare sales contracts for all confirmed business.
Develops and maintains relationships with clients and potential clients, to include attending client functions, community events, and networking events.
Entertains qualified clients per department guidelines.
Uses Marriott sales system to document and track business.
Works closely with operational team to ensure customer satisfaction with events.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST)
Skills/Knowledge Required
A complete understanding of forecasting, selling, and dynamics of Midtown and greater Manhattan Market and comp set.
Highly motivated individual who can work independently.
Ability to handle confidential information discretely and in the proper manner.
Self-starter, and possess excellent presentation skills.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels of employees, guests & customers in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
Proven track record of successful sales history.
Knowledge of Marriott Systems including CI/TY.
Knowledge of industry systems including Hotelligence(Demand 360, etc)
This position requires travel.
Qualification Standards
4-year bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or a related major is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of sales experience in a luxury/upper upscale hotel environment.
At least 2-3 years of group sales experience
