Job Summary The Business Development Manager (LATAM) will oversee and coordinate all sales and business development activities, focusing on gas and continuous reciprocating engine power generation and helping customers solve their energy problems with Caterpillar’s integrated solutions, which can include gensets, turbines, hybrid power solutions, switchgear, ATS, and controls.

What You Will Do

Sales: Pursue, develop, and close specific new opportunities related to the following Gas Product offerings: Standby, Prime, Continuous, Load Management/Peak shaving, Special Fuels, and Combined Heat and Power.

Business Development: Enable sales by identifying and developing growth channels, developing commercial business models, coordinating with the sales team on early demand‑creation initiatives to originate and develop projects, identifying product applications and commercial gaps, and working with internal stakeholders to close those gaps.

Proactively promote and position Cat Electric Power solutions by influencing and working closely with consultants, developers, EPCs, energy‑as‑a‑service (EaaS) providers, and end users/customers.

Estimate Cat and competitive equipment system performance and hardware evaluation throughout the initial feasibility process. Influence customers to recognize the full economic value that Cat solutions bring, and understand Energy/Power market structures, pricing mechanisms, and policies that impact the customer value proposition.

Gather and analyze competitive feedback in the region/territory to improve our understanding of value differentiation in the eyes of our customers.

Cultivate long‑term relationships with strategic partners and key accounts, developing, managing, and executing Key Account plans.

What You Will Have

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field

Advanced communication in English; fluent in Spanish

Customer Focus Extensive experience and knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions, and the ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

Industry Knowledge Working knowledge of the organization’s industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; the ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Background in energy‑related technology and solutions. Ability to assess the impact of price, efficiencies, operational and maintenance costs, and configuration decisions for customers.

Experience with economic feasibility studies and lifecycle modeling with an understanding of local energy markets.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking Extensive experience and knowledge of the decision‑making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to analyze situations accurately and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Effective Communications Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication behaviors.

Negotiating Extensive experience and knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques, with the ability to negotiate effectively across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Relationship Management Extensive experience and knowledge of relationship‑management techniques, with the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Account Management Extensive experience and knowledge of account management; ability to manage day‑to‑day activities and provide services and support to existing clients.

Value Selling Extensive experience and knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology, and services; ability to communicate overall product/service value and differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

What Will Set You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, ideally Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Portuguese language skills

Gas‑fueled power generation experience

Experience in power generation technology (i.e., reciprocating engines, gas turbines, battery storage, wind, and solar)

This position can be located in Dallas, TX or Houston, TX

Travel is expected up to 75% of the time, both domestically and internationally (LATAM region)

This role requires 5‑day a week in‑office availability when not traveling

Summary Pay Range $147,760.00 – $221,640.00
