The Y Adventure Partnership Director is a leadership role responsible for building and sustaining community partnerships that expand equitable access to camp and outdoor programs. This position collaborates across teams to strengthen year-round initiatives—such as BOLD & GOLD and STEPS—while driving enrollment, revenue, and mission-aligned impact for youth across Minnesota.

The salary for this position starts at $57,000 - $60,000. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

1. Job Summary The Y Adventure Partnership Director plays an essential role in developing new community partnerships, sustaining existing partnerships, and coordinating meaningful experience for partner organizations through our Y Adventure programs.

This position works collaboratively to manage, design, and enhance new and existing program offerings, develop and maintain partner relationships, support program enrollment and revenue development, and ensure mission alignment and desired outcomes. Develop plans in consultation with Camp Executive Directors and Program Directors to develop year-round initiatives to support access, equity and inclusion across all camps. This role is responsible for cultivating and sustaining strategic partnerships that broaden the reach and impact of camp programs, with a particular focus on communities that have been historically underserved or face barriers to access. Lead and manage Y Adventure’s partner relationship with BOLD & GOLD, and the S.T.E.P.S initiative. Represent the organization in collaborative spaces, support outreach and engagement efforts, and identify opportunities that advance equitable access to outdoor, educational, and leadership experiences. Travel within the state of Minnesota, both to YMCA of the North locations and to visit partner and potential partner organizations, will be required to support relationship‑building and program development initiatives.

2. Essential Functions

Develop and implement marketing and promotion plans for year-round BOLD & GOLD programming.

Develop and implement new and existing partnership programs, including STEPS, and programs with school and community partners.

Partner with Y Adventure leaders, Community Boards, and respective committees and stakeholders to ensure high quality programs and resources.

Develop system for on‑going evaluation and review of programs in conjunction with user groups and individuals.

Create new and steward current partnerships, including BOLD & GOLD, and STEPS programs to create meaningful program experiences; understands and meets annual budget and enrollment goals for relevant programs.

Maintain accurate statistical records and necessary reports, including LCCMR grant reporting and compliance requirements.

Assist with the operation of the camp in other duties as assigned by the supervising Executive Director.

Position is based in the Twin Cities and is structured as a hybrid role. Some in‑person presence is expected at Y of the North offices in St. Paul and Minneapolis. Periodic local travel and occasional overnight travel may be required to fulfill programmatic and partnership responsibilities (4‑6 weeks annually).

3. Relationships This position reports to the Camp Executive Director who reports to the Vice President of Y Adventure. The incumbent interacts regularly with all camp staff, volunteers, camp program participants, parents, and partner organizations. The Y Adventure Partnership Director plays an active role in the following committees: program, outreach, and annual fund. The director may be responsible for supervising seasonal program staff. This position represents the camps in the local community and works to build new partnerships.

4. Qualifications Required:

Experience in developing, implementing, administering camp or youth programs.

Minimum of three (3) years camp or related experience.

Minimum of one (1) camp season of supervisory experience.

Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow through, complete tasks independently, and meet deadlines.

Ability to demonstrate considerable skill and experience in program leadership and management.

Experienced in outdoor living skills, first aid, and emergency skills.

Demonstrated skills in group process, and the ability to recruit, train and supervise staff and volunteers.

Must have a personal philosophy compatible with the purpose and mission of the YMCA.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree.

Demonstrated experience with outdoor recreation/adventure travel.

Demonstrated experience managing customer accounts and partnerships.

Bi/multilingual.

6. Work Conditions

Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 90 pounds and able to traverse hilly and uneven terrain without undue exertion.

Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.

Perform essential program support to camp activities and programs which may include, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full‑reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.

Ability to perform tasks outdoors in different climates.
