The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase representation in the fields of advertising, marketing, and public relations by providing scholarships, career opportunities such as internships/fellowships/co-ops/entry level roles, career and professional development workshops, and mentorship opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students from historically underrepresented communities.

SALARY: Total compensation commensurate with experience

REPORTS TO: CLASSIFICATION: Mid-level

SUMMARY: Work closely with TLF’s CEO, SVP, and Talent & Alumni Associate, along with other members of the team. The position will be responsible for producing career and professional development workshops, scholarship program, all communications among board members, trade media, data base, as well as administrative tasks, updating and maintaining the Foundation’s database, among others.

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE Advertising + PR experience

RESPONSIBILITIES: Communications . Responsibilities include:

Write press releases, op-ed pieces, photo captions and developing story ideas for the Foundation

Conduct constant media outreach and follow up

Conduct outreach to colleges and universities in major markets across the U.S. to promote TLF’s programs – both in person and remotely

Maintain the Foundation’s social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn

Create content and update TLF’s website as needed

Execute email marketing campaigns and mailings (US mail and email) to the board of directors, major donors, alumni and contacts as necessary

Maintain a TLF media database of local, regional, national, trade and university media relative to TLF’s mission

Maintain database of TLF contacts

Create content and distribute TLF’s monthly e-newsletter, souvenir journal and annual newsletter

Create and update promotional pieces for annual scholarship program

Create promotional pieces for career & professional development workshops and other programs

Maintain and update database of university and college contacts

Monitor online reach and track communications metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts

Programs . Responsibilities include:

- Coordinatecareer & professional development workshopsfor students, including but not limited to:

Secure workshops hosts (both donors and universities)

Secure speakers (for on-campus events)

Provide recommendations and facilitate workshops

Track registrants and attendees and update student database accordingly

- Produce and execute the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship & Donor Recognition Reception, including, but not limited to:

Research venues, conduct site visits and secure contracts to make recommendations for reception, welcome dinner, lodging and flights for the scholarship recipients

Secure host for career & professional development workshop for the scholarship recipients

Work collaboratively with chair and co-chair partners to ensure smooth execution of programming

- Update database of students to participate in programs

- Process scholarship applications and recruit volunteers to score applications

- Facilitate the final judging and secure host agency or corporation as well as volunteers

- Assist with sourcing candidates for internship and entry-level positions within corporate, non-profit and agencies, as needed

- Provide support on special programs, as needed

- Assist with the execution, outreach, and reporting of the biennial alumni tracking survey

- Support the Chairman & CEO with other special projects within the foundation and across all three enterprises as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

B.A. in advertising, marketing, public relations or communications

Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working with a nonprofit organization or university or college. Prior experience with events or a PR/advertising agency is a plus

Ability to build relationships with key audiences, the media and corporate donors and supporters

Must be flexible; possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse communities

Proven administrative skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handling various projects simultaneously/multi-task oriented

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Must be analytical and a critical thinker

Must be willing to work weekends when necessary

Must be comfortable with travel – 30% travel within the U.S.

Successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to work in a team environment

Must have working knowledge of office computer programs including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Working knowledge in Constant Contact and Adobe Creative Suites is a plus (In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva)
