
Property Specialist

Skilled technical and clerical work involves ordering, receiving, recording, controlling, dispersing, and disposing of a wide variety of property items.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Property Manager. Performance is evaluated through observation, results obtained, and appropriate employee performance appraisals.
Responsibilities
Maintain a record of all expendable inventory in accordance with agency procedures
Initiate orders for expendable supplies and uniform items as necessary
Maintain an accurate record of all items issued to agency personnel
Order expendable supplies in a timely manner, avoiding shortages of needed items
Receive, unpack, and inspect supplies/equipment for compliance with ordering specifications and contact vendors regarding discrepancies
Store supplies and maintain the supply area in a neat and organized manner
Ensure that supplies are delivered to or picked up by the appropriate employee and/or Division/Bureau
Provide current and new employees with uniforms, equipment and appropriate materials necessary for their duty assignments
Ensure and document the return of all departmental property upon an employee’s termination
Maintain and issue traffic citation books
Properly monitor usage levels of supplies/equipment to avoid over or under stocking
Responsible for maintaining ACSO building keys
Assist other Unit and Bureau members as needed

Educational Requirements High School Diploma / GED – Required
Preferred Major(s) Experience and Training
Ability to type 25 cwp/m
Good working knowledge of computers
Two (2) or more years of experience in records, inventory control, warehousing, and/or purchasing preferred
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Certification and Licensing
Current, valid Florida driver license
Physical Requirements
Sit/stand for moderate periods
Look at a computer screen for moderate periods
See/hear at a normal range
Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently
Lift/carry 50+ pounds
Push/pull moderate to heavy loads
Ambulate independently
Climb (ladder, stairs, etc.)
Bend, squat, stoop and crawl
Manual dexterity
Drive a car, van, and a variety of other motor vehicles
Knowledge
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
Knowledge of property procedures for handling ACSO property
Knowledge of storeroom and inventory methods and procedures
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the issuance, control, and disposal of government property
Knowledge of applicable agency directives, procedures, and rules concerning property control and distribution
Knowledge of inventory control procedures and modern office practices concerning record keeping and inventory control
Knowledge of purchasing, requisition, and stock requisition procedures
Knowledge of the layout of ACSO’s facilities, including off-site locations
Skilled in operating computer and other types of office equipment
Ability to maintain supplies/equipment inventories
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to prioritize tasks and carry them through to completion
Ability to delegate tasks to inmate trustees
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain confidentiality and display discretion when appropriate
Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with ACSO personnel, co-workers, other agencies, and the general public
