Job Responsibilities Perform intermediate skilled administrative support, word processing and preserving all legal documents pertaining to Abstract and Torrens property and military records; process Uniform Commercial Code filings, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Research, verify and determine land transactions including property splits, delinquent taxes and type of property ownership.

Maintain vital records, working closely with Minnesota Department of Health and assist customers with vital statistics records (this includes births, deaths and marriages).

Maintain financial records of fees collected by department. Research recorded documents and compile abstracts of title for land in the County.

Thorough knowledge of the General Statutes governing the duties of the Office of the Recorder; thorough knowledge of the policies, operations and procedures of the Office of the Recorder/Registrar of Titles; thorough knowledge of modern record keeping standards, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of data privacy; thorough knowledge of legal descriptions; general knowledge of the principles of bookkeeping practices and procedures; thorough skill operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software; proficient data entry; thorough skill operating standard and specialty document scanners; ability to perform legal research for attorneys; ability to read and analyze legal documents; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; ability to make mathematical computations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county, state and local officials, associates and the general public. The Recorder’s office works very closely with law offices. Everyone in the Recorder’s Office is cross‑trained to do all duties required within the office.

The typical schedule is 35 hours per week. Additional hours may be required, but vary based upon work load demands.

Qualifications High School Diploma and two years post‑secondary training and three years real estate, legal or abstracting experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.
