
Photojournalist

CBS 62 (WWJ-TV) and CW50 (WKBD-TV), the CBS News and Stations owned & operated in the #14 television market in Detroit, is seeking a creative and dedicated Multi‑Skilled Photojournalist/Editor to join our growing CBS Detroit News Team. Candidates should have a strong commitment to visual storytelling with excellent photography and editing skills, the ability to produce daily content from the field, and assist our Multi‑Skilled Journalists during live shots and on assignments as needed.
Qualifications:
Photojournalists applying for this position must have non‑linear editing experience, knowledge of file‑based video transfer, and experience as a News Photographer and Editor.
Must have the ability to operate live bonded cellular transmit units, communicate effectively, work well under pressure, have a keen knowledge of situational safety, and meet deadlines.
Must have at least 5+ years of experience in a medium to large television market.
Requirements:
Candidates will be accountable for maintaining assigned equipment, including news vehicles, cameras, lights, laptop editors, and peripheral gear, initiating repairs when necessary.
Must be physically able to carry, shoulder, and shoot with a broadcast ENG camera (25 lbs. or more), as well as carry support equipment (tripod, lights, microphones, etc.).
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
This is an IBEW covered position.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Certification Requirements:
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Exceptional news judgement and writing skills.
Knowledge of current events.
Must be results‑oriented, innovative and demonstrate leadership and collaboration.
Strong breaking news skills.
Ability to incorporate social media and new technology into all the newscasts.
Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or allied field preferred.
