
Front Desk Representative / Sales – Construction Materials

Job Description MD Dirt LLC is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Front Desk Representative / Inside Sales Associate to join our construction materials yard in Farmersville, Texas. This role combines front desk customer service with sales and account management, supporting contractors and construction companies with material pricing, orders, and deliveries.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys relationship-building, sales, and working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers in person and by phone, in the office and on the yard
Sell construction materials including rock, concrete sand, stone, culverts, pipe, and aggregates
Develop and maintain relationships with local contractors and construction companies
Generate new sales opportunities through customer outreach and follow-ups
Prepare pricing, quotes and sales tickets
Follow up on quotes and maintain long-term customer relationships
Respond to contractor inquiries regarding product availability, lead times, and delivery options
Track and manage customer orders to ensure timely fulfillment
Coordinate material orders and delivery schedules with suppliers and yard staff
Maintain accurate records of quotes, orders, and customer interactions
Communicate orders clearly with yard and loader operators
Handle cash, and other transactions accurately
Maintain a clean and organized front desk area
Maintain a clean and organized supply and loading yard
Load and secure materials for clients
Experience & Qualifications
Experience in construction, site work, utilities, or material sales required
Prior exposure to retail or sales required
Minimum 6 month skid steer and/or mini excavator experience
Must be proactive with customer outreach, follow-ups, and occasional calling
Strong relationship-building, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and develop new business
Familiarity with contractors and construction projects is a plus
Excellent negotiation and analytical skills to assess customer needs and recommend solutions
Basic math skills and strong attention to detail
Comfortable using computers, phones, and point-of-sale systems
Reliable transportation and strong work ethics
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required
Combination of office/front desk and outdoor materials yard
Regular interaction with truck drivers, contractors, and equipment operators
Comfortable working around dust, noise, and varying weather conditions
